Where is the camp located?
Our camp is located at 215 Cline Ave N, Westdale, Hamilton, right next to Cootes Paradise.
Is this camp in French?
While we’ve been offering camps for 15 years, this is our very first English camp. We’re excited to embark on this adventure with you this summer and can’t wait to create many new happy memories together.
What should my child bring everyday?
Children should bring to camp a lunch, appropriate clothes for being outside, closed-toe shoes for walking, a back pack and a water bottle. It is also recommended that children have extra snacks (more then they would for a school day) since we will be more active.
Where do students leave their belonging during camp?
Students can leave belongings that they don’t need for our adventures back in the classroom.
Do you have access to washrooms?
Yes, our home base has washrooms.
What do you do for camp during rainy days?
If it is lightly raining and not calling for thunder or lightning, we will continue our outside adventures as planned. If it is going to be too much for us to proceed outside, we have back up classroom activities as well as a gym where we can play and do other activities.
What do you do on extreme heat days?
We will adjust our schedules for extreme heat to make sure we are more active in the morning. Luckily the forest offers some relief and if it is too much, we can return to our air-conditioned classroom for engaging classroom activities.
What is a typical day of camp like?
A typical camp day begins with our morning gathering, where we unite as a group, express gratitude, and outline the day’s exciting adventure. Following this, we will eat snack, visit the washrooms, and embark on our exploration of diverse trails and activities. Lunch will be in the outdoors or back in our classroom setting depending on the day. In the afternoon, we may continue our outdoor exploration or return to the classroom to engage in crafts or activities that stimulate critical thinking and creativity. Finally, each day concludes with a reflective session in the classroom, allowing us to ponder and share our experiences.
How long has Little Apples been in operation?
While this is The Little Apples’ second summer, it is proud to be a part of our company Les Petites Pommes which has run since 2009. This is our 16th summer of running camps and we have brought all our knowledge and expertise in running award-winning camps to this new English program.
Do your teachers have vulnerable sector checks?
Yes, all of the staff in our camps are required to provide a vulnerable sector check before starting.
Is before and aftercare available?
Yes, we offer before and aftercare to accommodate your family’s needs starting at 8:15 AM and ending at 5 PM.
What happens during before and aftercare?
Before and aftercare is an unstructured time where students will be able to play games, watch a movie, draw or read together. It will also sometimes take place with our French camp students.
How long has Les Petites Pommes been in operation?
We have been providing after-school tutoring and camps for kids since 2009. Through these programs, we have helped thousands of students learn and feel confident in French!
